Ten-year-old Laure moves to the suburbs and decides to pass as a boy named Mikael. Mikael attracts the attention of Lisa, who falls in love. Laure/Mikael alternate between life at home with their family and outings with their neighbourhood friends and new girlfriend, all the while finding ingenious ways to get through the summer. Céline Sciamma's second feature is an astute and moving exploration of the fluidity of gender expression in childhood.
