When her son Max finds himself unable to leave Hong Kong due to the protests that are bringing the city to a standstill, the recently retired Anke leaves her small German town to visit her son abroad. A world apart, she wanders and meet strangers who help her feel at home again: a doorman, a psychiatrist, a fortune teller and an activist. Jonas Bak's artful, 16mm ballad casts an outsider's eye on Hong Kong, and in the doing, reveals it as an extraordinary city of self-discovery, resistance, connection and compassion.
